About Us

 IMAG0252

Thomas Farms is a sole proprietorship and has been in operation since 1973.  The farm was originated by Gary Milton Thomas, Sr. and is a family owned and operated business. The farm started out small but has grown into the large multifaceted operation that it is today.

The farm consists of seven different cash crops, a produce farm and a six house egg laying hatchery. The seven crops are comprised of tobacco, hemp, wheat, corn, soybeans, sunflowers, and sweet potatoes.  The farm also has 19 greenhouses which are used in growing tobacco plants, hemp, and various produce.

The produce farm usually operates from April thru July of each year.  We have a “we-pick” and “you-pick” strawberry farm which spans over 4.5 acres.  The various other types of produce sold here are:  asparagus, greenhouse tomatoes, sweet onions, squash, zucchini, cabbage, broccoli, sweet potatoes, new potatoes, green beans, sweet corn, collards, and turnips. In addition, there are various canned goods made from our produce. The motto of Thomas Farms is “we only sell what we grow”.  We even sell soft serve ice cream. The produce farm’s customers are loyal and come back year after year.  It is said over and over again by our customers that Thomas Farms has the best strawberries and produce around.  People will drive from far away to buy our produce.  We also take our produce to various farmers’ markets in surrounding counties.

  1. I was born and raised in Broadway, went to school with Gary for 11 years . Like your family we farmed and grew a crop of tobacco, and always loved the smell of it growing and curing. I lived on Buckhorn rd. Back then every one felt that they were kind of kin to every one. and being a Thomas 99% were kin to everybody. Glad to see Gary and his family are doing well ,working hard for sure. Hope to stop by the next time I come up from Alabama to see my family. Take care BIGUM
